Men Scales Trump Tower in Likely Attempt to Protest

By Peyton Carper on August 10, 2016

At roughly 5:30 pm on August 10, a man was captured on film attempting to scale Trump Tower in on 56th Street in New York City using suction cups.

At the time this article was written, approximately 6:30 pm the same day, police officers were attempting to clear the area of the hundreds of observers that had congregated at the intersection of 56th Street and Madison Avenue to watch the events unfolding. The video was recorded live and shared on outlets like Periscope and Facebook. The Los Angeles Times has coverage of the event and a video that can be found here.

Observers and news outlets alike are struggling to find a reason for the scaling, and have not yet identified the man taking part in it, but it is quite safe to say that this is some form of protest against the tower’s owner, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump due to his very negative media presence at the current moment.

Trump was seen at a rally on August 9 insinuation that “the Second Amendment people,” referring to those who support the right to bear arms, should attack his opponent, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. Though this was not a direct statement, many news outlets and Trump supporters believe this to be his opinion.

This article will be updated as further events unfold.
